3 of the best places to visit in December are in New England, according to Good Housekeeping

Families planning December vacations can choose from top New England destinations that include water slides, ice skating, and holiday fun worthy of a Hallmark movie, according to Good Housekeeping.

The publication released a list of 24 best places to visit in December, focusing on kid-friendly getaways, and three New England destinations made the cut: Biddeford, Maine; Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa in Whitefield, N.H.; and Great Wolf Lodge in Fitchburg, Mass.

“Whether you need a beachy getaway before this month’s holiday chaos or want to take the kids to a destination full of Christmas cheer, we’ve laid out the best places to visit in December in the U.S. and across the world for every travel preference and budget,” wrote the publication.

Biddeford is “a hidden gem” about a half hour south of Portland with a downtown that “gives off Hallmark movie vibes,” wrote Good Housekeeping. The publication recommended visitors check out the city’s holiday festival, taking place this year on Dec. 6.

New Hampshire’s Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa, a historic hotel set on 1,700 acres in the White Mountains, was recently renovated, noted the publication, and offers ice skating, an indoor pool, movie room, cross-country skiing, and snow tubing.

Finally, Great Wolf Lodge, which has a location in Fitchburg, is an indoor water park and hotel that “goes big for the holidays with storytimes, nightly snowfalls, crafts, Santa visits and decorations galore,” wrote Good Housekeeping.
