18-year-old Adrian Pena will be charged with fleeing justice, the Essex County DA said.
The man who allegedly shot and killed a 17-year-old in a Lynn Market Basket parking lot in June was arrested on Tuesday, authorities said.
Adrian Pena, 18, is in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service in the Dominican Republic, the office of Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker said in a statement.
Pena will be arraigned on fugitive from justice charges in Miami, then arraigned for murder after being extradited to Massachusetts, Tucker said.
Lynn police found Kai Burgos suffering from a gunshot wound in a crashed car on June 15. The vehicle had multiple gunshot holes and crashed in a ravine, Boston.com previously reported.
“We look forward to prosecuting this case to achieve justice, and hopefully some measure of peace, for Kai Burgos’ family,” said Tucker. “The perseverance and determination of law enforcement in this case speaks to their dedication in pursuit of a just outcome and to the safety of our community.”
